We have lost so much or, have we gained some too?
It’s been just over a year when we were hit by an unknown
force,
Changing lives like never envisioned or ever experienced
before,
Some lost too soon with no chance of a goodbye or a swan
song.
Who would believe a tiny element like this could last this
long?
With the rising sun each day, with the setting of the silvery
moon,
So many tales of sufferings heard that you think, one is
immune.
Nevertheless, the next tale of misfortune moves you to tears,
You begin to doubt your good fortune. And it stokes your dormant
fears.
As we went about our daily routine of chores n just living
our lives,
Exhausted at end of day but thankful for another day
survived.
The extended period of social distancing, inactivity, and
the lockdown...
When did it change to a time for introspection, the start of
a new countdown?
Rudely stopped in our tracks or were we actually jolted awake?
Needed this time to stop n smell the roses; To truly appreciate
And count my Blessings; And to see the abundant magic around
me,
In the chirping birds, blooming lilies, the dappled sun n
the pleasant breeze.
To catch up with the long languishing list of reads
To finally tend my garden n sow the long expired seeds.
As I worked the wet soil, I cherished the taken for granted
rain
And the elusive magic of the setting sun, it’s difficult to
explain.
As I planned my day, I felt gratitude in every little action,
even chore;
Encouraged, I re-read my scriptures n imbibed them once
more.
No regrets whatever it maybe – loss of work, missing family
or vacation.
To earn, to socialise and to have fun, there will be many an
occasion.
I am at peace; some say it’s because I have not suffered a
personal loss.
Have not been touched by the havoc, the pain that is wreaking
across.
There is an element of truth in that, and I say Grace from
my very being.
The pandemic has changed my outlook n I treasure every little blessing.
However tough it maybe, have faith in the good that’s
around us,
Time to write a new chapter, paint a new picture on a fresh canvas.
“This too shall Pass”,
Whatever we maybe facing, lets not lose sight of this
important thing.
Hazy our future may look but trust Him; He's planned n thought of
everything.
